Not everyone learns in the same way, or has the same amount of time to dedicate. But overall 3 things always seem to help.
- Practise daily (even if a tiny amount). Duolingo is great to start a daily habit.
- Persevere – you will plateau, but re-starting is much more effort than to keep going.
- Have an (attainable) goal, your focus and dedication improves.
A great teacher or language school can make a huge difference to your progress. But language learning isn’t simply textbooks and exercises. There are lots of resources to keep you entertained whilst learning. For example:

- When a good level, the novels of Jöel Dicker are easier to access than many.
- Free newspapers are great with many short articles.
